North Goa Full Day Sightseeing Tour
North Goa is one of the two districts that make up the state of Goa in India. The district has an area of 1736 km² and is bounded by Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra state to the north and by Belgaum district of Karnataka to the east, by South Goa District to the south, and by the Arabian sea to the west. North Goa is mainly famous for beaches which include Anjuna Beach, Candolim Beach, Mandrem Beach, Calangute Beach, Arambol Beach and a few others. Other tourist sites include Fort Aguada, The church of Mae De Dues and the temple of Boghdeshwara. North Goa is framed by Mandovi River in the south and Terekhol River in the north with Calangute and Baga being considered as the epicenter of the region. Anjuna is famous for its Wednesday market while Vagator gives a cool party vibe. The beaches of Aswem, Mandrem, and Morjim are considered low-key with prospering and friendly family resorts having jazzy beachfront huts. Arambol which is in the far north is popular for paragliding and provides cheap clifftop accommodation. There is a lot of places that North Goa offers you to explore. Here are the places covered in the North Goa tour packages include:
Fort Aguada was built by the Portuguese rulers for making the fresh water supply available to the ships passing by the Arabian Sea. Aguada is a Portuguese word meaning “Watering Place”.
Aguada Light House
This Light House was built as early as 1864 thereby being the oldest and first lighthouse to be built in Asia.
The Calangute town in North Goa is famous for its beach and is the largest in North Goa. It is also known as the Queen of Beaches. This beach is visited by thousands of domestic and international tourists. You will find shacks and stalls on this beach which sell fried prawns, beers and trinkets made of seashells under the shade of palm trees. Water sport activities like Parasailing, water skiing, and many others are available on this beach.
It is one of my favorite tourist attraction. Baga Beach is a small but a perfect beach and is located between Anjuna on one side and Calangute on the other side. If you want tranquility and are in the mood for some introspection then Baga Beach is the best choice.
Candolim beach is a part of an extension of the beach coastline which is along the Arabian Sea, thereby, beginning at the Fort Aguada and ending at the Chapora Beach. It is a very famous place because it is the birthplace of Abba Faria who is known as the “Father of Hypnotism” and was one of the freedom fighters of Goa.
Sinquerim beach is a beautiful one with a spectacular and breathtaking stretch of sand. It lies adjacent to the Aguada Beach. The famous Aguada Fort can be seen from this beach. This fort was built by Portuguese to defend themselves from any attack that can take place from the sea route.
Anjuna beach is famous for its stunning surroundings with swinging palm trees along with the soft white colored sand. The beach is marked by the rock formation over the cove of white sand and black rock that extends into the sea.
Vagator Beach is one of the most iconic beaches in Goa and it is situated right to the north of Anjuna Beach. This beach is crescent shaped and is the favorite among the tourists for the midnight parties.
Chapora Fort gained popularity from the movie “Dil Chahta Hai” and now is one of the famous attractions of Goa. The epic sunset view from here is majestic. Trekking up to the fort can be tiresome during the day but evenings are memorable.
